A Competence Center for Industry 4.0: from the design to implementation

The I4byDesign Competence Center, with a clear focus on Industry 4.0 technologies, provides strategic and operational support to Greek manufacturing companies, aiming at the digital and technological transformation of their industrial processes. Through a wide range of methodologies, digital tools and services it reshapes their organizational, business and strategic models, while maintaining a high level of competitiveness. I4byDesign acts as an innovation cluster in the field of Industry 4.0 and Logistics 4.0 and is comprised of 1 Research Center and 22 Greek companies, hence connecting research to businesses.

Vision and Mission of I4byDesign: I4byDesign’s vision is to combine the know-how, experience and technological expertise of its members on Industry 4.0 and Logistics 4.0, to guide companies towards their digital transformation, the adoption of circular economy strategies and the optimization of their supply chain. The mission of the I4byDesign Competence Center is to accelerate the process of digital and technological transformation of domestic and international manufacturing companies, with an emphasis on SMEs.

What we offer I4byDesign acts as a technical partner for manufacturing companies wishing to manage innovation activities, technology transfer, applied research and direct implementation of 4.0 tools. More specifically, it provides the necessary infrastructure and know-how in the field of Industry 4.0 and, having as its main purpose to support innovative actions in the field of Greek industry, it aims at: 
  1. The active participation of its members in educational activities based on the analysis of use cases, in order to promote and disseminate skills in Industry 4.0, as well as the support for the  acquisition of certification for new technologies and products produced by the members. 
  2. The digital transformation and the improvement of its members business activity through the integration of new digital technologies and solutions, the adoption of circular economy strategies, the management / reuse of defective components and the optimization of the supply and value chains.
  3. The implementation of innovation projects, industrial research and the development of technology oriented experiments. 
  4. The creation of a network for collaboration, including external SMEs and other relevant organizations, both in Greece and in Europe, for the implementation of industrial projects.

The project I4byDesign is implemented under the National Action Plan: «COMPETENCE CENTERS» and is co-financed by the European Union and national resources through the OP. Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship & Innovation (EPANEK).

The project started in July 2021 and is expected to be completed in January 2023.
